On November 15, 2022, one of a lecture series on innovation and entrepreneurship was held, in order to promote innovation and entrepreneurship education, let students learn knowledge about innovation and entrepreneurship, improve their innovation ability, stimulate their enthusiasm in entrepreneurship and cultivate innovative thinking. The lecture series were sponsored by the Department of Academic Affairs, the Department of Student Affairs, the Alumni Association and the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of Xi’an Fanyi University. This lecture was hosted by Kang Huan from the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, and 80 student representatives from the School of Translation Studies attended the lecture.

In the beginning, Kang Huan introduced the development of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and information about Miao Fengchao, who was a tutor from the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and was to give the lecture.

Then, Miao Fengchao gave a lecture with the theme of “Integrating Virtue, Intelligence, Diligence and Courage, and Enjoying Innovation". In the lecture, Miao Fengchao elaborated on the theme from both the objective and subjective aspects. In the objective aspect, he introduced different understandings of innovation from three perspectives of economics, sociology and philosophy, and talked about technology models, service models and innovation models. Miao explained the different stages of innovation with the example of phones evolving from Nokia to iPhone 14. He also talked about the innovation of Haidilao’s service, and suggested that returning to the “starting point” is the essence of innovation. In the subjective aspect, regarding the cultivation of innovation awareness, Miao put forward the three-step method: First, cultivate the ability of critical thinking; second, break stereotyped thinking; and finally think about solutions from multiple angles. He also listed some typical innovation skills.

At last, the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship granted an appointment letter to Miao Fengchao, welcomed Miao for joining XFU and thanked him for his contribution to promoting innovation and entrepreneurship.

This lecture combined theory with practice and used novel and unique cases. Students who participated in the lecture realized the need to learn a diversity of knowledge, take part in social activities and cultivate innovative awareness, innovative thinking and innovative ability.
